As parents who both work and are very busy, it's tough putting a healthy meal on the table every night. We work hard to make sure that our son gets lots of fruits, veggies and lean protein in his diet. Sometimes we slack, though. After a long day at work or a busy day running errands we've been known to head to the golden arches. We pride ourselves on the fact that it doesn't happen often, but hey, it does happen!
The best way to prevent this sort of thing is to keep a well-stocked fridge and pantry, where a healthy meal or snack is only a few minutes away. No excuses! This is why I love Dole products. We always have a ton of bananas in our fruit bowl, salad bags in the crisper, and raisins in the pantry, ready to go. Our son also absolutely loves pineapple and Dole's pineapple chunks come in 100% fruit juice in the can, so I feel good about letting him snack to his heart's content, knowing the fruit hasn't been soaked in high fructose corn syrup!
Dole is currently running a contest at http://www.DoleMakeMeAChef.com. Simply log in to the website and write a 200-word essay on how Dole canned fruit is a part of your pantry. The contest grand prize is a trip for 4 to California for a cooking experience with Chef Ben Ford at his restaurant, Ford's Filling Station. Once a day you can tell up to 5 friends about the DOLE Make Me A Chef Contest. For each submission and a friend referral you will be entered to the weekly sweepstakes drawing, up to 8 chances, to win a DOLE gift bag of goodies (valued at $100) or even a chance to win one of two $500 gift cards!
And here's an extra bonus for Soul Parents readers. Comment back on the blog with which recipe on MakeMeAChef was your favorite. If you enter an essay, please repost it in the comments section and I will choose one reader and send you enough coupons to refill your entire pantry with DOLE Canned Fruit (a $25 value!). So what are you waiting for? Get over to the site and get to commenting!
